Wu Bangguo: Mongolia and China should deepen their mutual economic cooperation
China will further expand economic and trade cooperation with the neighboring country of Mongolia, particularly in; mineral resources exploration, infrastructure construction and the financial sector, a senior Chinese leader said during the meeting with his Mongolian counterpart Z.Enkhbold.
Wu arrived in Ulan Bator on Wednesday for the first visit by a top Chinese legislator to Mongolia in 16 years.
He said bilateral relations have entered a new stage of development since China and Mongolia established a strategic partnership in 2011.
During the meeting with Speaker Z.Enkhbold Mr. Wu Bangguo said “Politically, China and Mongolia should strengthen their; strategic mutual trust, continue to support each other on issues concerning their core interests, and carry out close cooperation in law enforcement and in the field of non-traditional security.
Economically, the two countries should deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in such areas as; mining, infrastructure, construction and finance.
Culturally, the two countries should intensify people-to-people exchanges in a bid to strengthen mutual understanding and consolidate their traditional friendship.
China and Mongolia also should beef up their cooperation on multilateral issue and support each other in global and regional issues while safeguarding their common interests.
In addition, the NPC and the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia, the two countries parliaments, have carried out close and friendly exchanges”. He said that he hopes that they can further strengthen communications at all levels.
For his part, Z.Enkhbold pledged to push forward cooperation with China in the fields of; politics, trade and economy, and humanity, and in global and regional issues.
Z.Enkhbold said developing friendly relations with China has been the common stance and strategic choice of the Mongolia government and Parliament. He signed an agreement with Wu on Wednesday to promote closer communication between the two parliaments. The two countries also signed agreements in economic and technology cooperation, but no details were given.
Yesterday, the President of Mongolia received the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Wu Bangguo. Welcoming Mr. Wu Bangguo the President said “The chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China is visiting Mongolia after many years. I hope this time the visit will have an important contribution on deepening the strategic partnership between Mongolia and China and will intensify the inter-parliamentary collaboration”.
In his return Mr. Wu Bangguo said “Mongolia is an important neighbor for China. I am happy that the Mongolian Government focuses on strengthening cooperation and relations in all sectors with China. China has respected the independence of Mongolia but also its policy on foreign and internal relations for a long time and we will continue to do so in the future. The aim of my visit is to preserve the frequency of such high level visits and to deepen the strategic partnership relations with Mongolia”.
