Diamonds and dances set to dazzle

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, CentralWorld presents a variety of cultural shows from China, plus a spectacular show from the UK.

On Thursday only, there will be six performances including music, dance and martial arts with dancers and performers from Guangxi, Mongolia, Tibet, Tianjin municipality, Liaoning and Shandong provinces. They will take turns to enchant audiences from 10am to 6pm. On the days following this, from Feb 8 to 10, aerial acrobatic show by The Dream Engine from the UK called "The Diamond" will be staged three times a day. The show features aerial performers in transparent PVC structures, giving them the appearance of being suspended on nothing but a column of light.

Starting off flat, the diamond fills with air and lifts the aerialist with it. The display creates images of a giant unfolding orchid before achieving a full, 11m high, taut crystalline form. Lighting changes colour on the internal and external facets while the aerialist dances inside. "The Diamond" will run at noon, 6pm and 8pm on Feb 8 and noon, 4pm and 6pm on Feb 9 and 10. Admission is free.

Chinese cultural shows will be staged on Thursday, followed by an aerial acrobatic show on Feb 8 to 10, at CentralWorld.
