PRESIDENT'S INITIATIVE CONSULTED IN SOUTH KOREA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Researchers and scholars have considered forms and ways of realizing the Asian Partnership Initiative for Democracy. It has been co-innovated by the Presidents of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea.

The consultation, which ran on February 14 in Seoul, S.Korea, brought together scholars and diplomats from Mongolia, the USA, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. Among the prominent attendees were also Larry Diamond, a leading scholar in the field of democracy studies; Donald Emmerson, a director of the Southeast Asia Forum (SEAF) at the Walter H.Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center; Carl Gershman, the president of the National Endowment for Democracy; and D.Ganbat, the director of the Institute of Strategic Studies of Mongolia.
